NURSING AND BIOLOGY BUILDING
Evergreen Valley Community College
San Jose, CA
This 26,773 sq. ft. main building houses laboratories, preparation areas, offices and a science museum. A bridge was designed to connect to the existing science building. Keeping sustainability as one of the primary objectives, the main building materials consist of braced steel frame structure, metal stud walls, exterior stucco finish, metal sunshades and insulated glass curtain wall. In addition, the project includes a 6,072 sq. ft. lecture hall building. Providing flexible room configurations, two lecture rooms have the capability of combining to form one large hall. The lecture hall building materials, selected for acoustical properties, include concrete masonry walls, curved glass reinforced gypsum ceiling panels, and a roof of metal standing seam.
