AUDITORIUM RENOVATION
SAN MARCOS HIGH SCHOOL

Originally constructed in 1958, the remodel of this Auditorium commenced in February 2003. The building was brought up to meet life safety codes, made ADA accessible, and improvements made to the interiors, acoustics, theatrical lighting and rigging. As the Auditorium previously had an institutional look and feel, the requirement to abate asbestos in the plaster was taken as an opportunity to improve the aesthetics and acoustics of the space. Curved side walls were added to enhance the acoustics, add visual interest, and provide space for theatrical lightning. The Theater seating has been fully refurbished with upholstery added. The ticket booth faced in glass mosaic tile, is ADA accessible and serves as a way to identify the entrance.
